About Our Organization
Who We Are
Our community group consists of dedicated volunteers that live, work and raise their families in the Rockaway Park/ Belle Harbor section of Rockaway. We believe that this unique seaside community, at the end of the A Train, between the Atlantic and Jamaica Bay, deserves an organization willing to fight to preserve and improve the great quality of life that has been the norm here for generations. The organization grew out of the previously established Rockaway Park Homeowners and Residents Association. For over a decade now, the Rockaway Civic Association has been working tirelessly for the benefit of this community. If you have admired the planted green spaces and trees along Rockaway Beach Blvd, if you have attended our Holiday Tree and Menorah lighting events on B116th Street, if you have worked with our board members on raising awareness about overdevelopment, if you have participated in creating one of our many Beach Gardens, if you have attended one of our Beach Flix movies on the beach on a beautiful summer evening; you already know about our work in the community. Our mission is to educate and advocate towards the maintenance and improvement of the quality of life that continues to attract families, visitors and businesses to this beautiful oceanfront community in NYC. We continue to promote responsible growth and development within the community, in line with the vision of those who live, work and raise their families here. We believe in the importance of bringing people together, fostering communication, and promoting understanding between individuals and groups, while working with our elected officials and governmental agencies as the recognized advocacy group for the neighborhood.
We work hard to be the united voice of our community

What We Do
As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we depend on the generosity of our partners and the community to continue representing the interests and concerns of our members. Our board members work closely with our elected officials, at the Federal, State and City level, on issues involving Rockaway Park and Belle Harbor. We work with the local Police Precinct (100th) and the Community Board (14) to advocate for improvement or to submit consensus opinions on various issues. Our board members work tirelessly to fundraise, host events, and secure grants to help our organization operate. We are grateful for the support we have received from homeowners, businesses, and residents, and we will continue to work hard and find new ways to meet the needs of our community.
